There are agents and more agents, and then there is the extremely talented Leticia Gomez of Savvy Literary! From the first moment we connected, I knew Leticia was special. Her good humor, light heartedness, and kindness immediately put me at ease. Her professionalism and ability to deliver FAR exceeded my expectations, proving that nice people can finish first! Leticia secured an advance contract for my upcoming book, Lead Like it Matters…Because it Does, with McGraw-Hill in only three months. She believed in me and made sure the right publisher did as well. And then she scored again, by landing another publishing contract for my novel. I will have two books published and in book stores within 9 months of each other!! Leticia Gomez is the reason that was possible. She is an optimistic, realistic, and prolific professional with whom I will stay connected as long as she’ll have me!
Hey, I don’t really know you, nor you me, but you are a godsend.
I am 67 and more than I want to admit, really where Hemingway was around the time I’m writing about him, just in better shape physically. But mentally and emotionally, at the same place, questioning my talent, my manhood, my being. Part of that is my former agent, who not only couldn’t sell any of my work but couldn’t get any kind of feedback. One of my sons was wondering this weekend when I showed him some of your emails and responses whether Mike had even sent out my work. On top of that I got an email from a former newspaper colleague I turned on to Mike a while back, telling me he was giving up on Mike. He’s the guy with the book about his sportswriter father and possible book about Brooklyn Dodger Carl Furillo.
Leticia, you know writers. You can destroy our confidence with a hint of a negative review.
On the Hemingway project, I guess I kinda gave up on it, especially when I couldn’t get a grant. I don’t want to just write around some of the key parts. Going to Malaga again with an eye to what I need would be ideal. But I thought it out. I could do it with just hiring someone to get me some answers and be my eyes on the ground to do it cheaply.
I say all this because I’ve got Hemingway material all around, in three different computers. My pal Teo, who knew Hemingway as a child, is in a nursing home here. The epilogue completing the book is about his own tragedy, beyond Hemingway’s suicide. Teo squandered a fortune on hookers and heroin. That epilogue will be a sad look at what happened to a family’s dreams of recapturing the Lost Generation in some new, grand American version of wealth, sophistication and the arts, unfortunately the most artistic thing about Teo being the image of lostness created by connecting all those old needle marks on his arms.
I tell you all this to thank you and to try to explain that, yes, if we can strike something here, it would be Hi-Yo Silver! on what would be a truly special contribution on Hemingway and the 20th century of broken dreams…
How is Leticia marvelous? Let me count the ways! Before meeting Leticia my work (manuscript) sat on another agents desk for nearly three years. Because of this my publicist introduced me to Leticia Gomez. I remember my publicist telling me, “Leticia is a Mover and a Shaker in the book world. She will never let your manuscript just sit on her desk collecting dust!” I thought, “I know my manuscript has the potential of helping many people all over the world, I must give her a try.” After a few months of working with Leticia, she landed me an amazing book deal with Harlequin Publishers.
Leticia has a unique ability to hear and feel the inner voice of the author’s manuscript, and act as the catalyst to move your work into the hands of a publishing company. To top it off, she really cares about her clients and their success. Thank you Leticia for making my dreams come true!
I have worked with many publishers/agents over the past 2 decades and let me tell you that NO ONE is more sincere or has more integrity than Leticia Gomez of Savvy Literary Services. Most people in the publishing industry business are notorious for not having people-friendly skills. Sometimes it takes them days or even weeks to respond to an e-mail. Their excuse is that they have too many books/clients to deal with. This is furthest from the truth. I worked with one of the top publishing houses in the world for over 10 years and the senior editor would oftentimes joke with me about how undisciplined he was and how unmotivated the organization was – no sense of urgency whatsoever! Leticia is the first person I have met (after publishing over 30 books) that is PASSIONATE about her work, RESPONSIVE to her clients and a PLEASURE to speak with. I love working with her!
Leticia is an honest, tenacious, thoughtful agent with a keen sense of marketing strategies to broaden the publishing opportunities for authors. She is available and authentic and provides such a personal touch to her interactions. She makes you feel like you are her only client!
It is hard to describe how truly impressed I have been, time and time again by Leticia’s professionalism and work ethic. She is ever generous with her time, always amiable and willing to lend a patient ear. Admittedly, one risks hyperbole, but in the case of Leticia, the reality of her hard work, helpfulness, intelligence and dedication more than bear out such statements. She must outshine the best literary agents out there.
It’s nice making the leap of faith to launch a new book with Leticia representing me. She has the experience and the contacts in the publishing industry to make you feel as though maybe there really is a chance for success.
Leticia Gomez is the kind of literary agent most writers only dream of having–talented, dedicated, and willing to stick with you because she believes in your work. I am thrilled and grateful to have her as my agent.
It was my good fortune to have a literary agent such as Leticia Gomez to represent my work. Not only is she a tireless supporter of her clients works, but in my case, she has become a true friend. I have recommended Savvy Literary Services to some of my writer friends because I am convinced that their work is in the best possible hands.
Leticia Gomez is amazing. I, along with seven other Latinas, came to her with an eight chapter anthology. Leticia sold it promptly, even though it is said that anthologies don’t sell. We signed with her in January of 2011 and by July she not only presented us with one interested publisher, but two. After negotiations we signed with a longstanding and reputable publishing company. We are very pleased with Leticia and consider her our literary agent for our future projects.
Signing up with Leticia Gomez has been one of the best moves of my writing career. She keeps surprising me with her dedication and commitment. She’s both personal and professional, a rare gift these days in the agenting business. I hope to work with her for many years to come.
Leticia Gomez has been wonderful in keeping me updated on the progress of my manuscript as it makes its way through the world of editors. She has not only been prompt and professional, but has offered support and words of encouragement. I know I’m in dedicated hands.
As a published author of three multi-cultural romance novels, I am thrilled to have Leticia Gomez as my agent. She is everything an agent should be–she is friendly, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable in her field. I have complete faith in her and look forward to a long and fruitful publishing career with her at the helm.
A pleasure to work with, Leticia Gomez is one of the best in her field. She consistently perseveres to deliver results I need. I struck oil when I signed on with this Texas literary agent.
Leticia Gomez is one of the most effective and enthusiastic business women we know. Working quickly and diligently, Leticia is able to produce positive results and excellent feedback in both the writing and the general publishing process. Being new and relatively young authors, she opened us up to new ideas and helped us experience our writing potential. Although we are balancing college and writing, Leticia is able to flexibily work with our schedules as well as hers in order to produce a magnificent product. There is absolutely nothing negative that we could possibly say about her work!
In the short time that I’ve been with Ms. Gomez I’ve learned to respect her perseverance. She has the unique ability for transcribing my written material into words that publishers can clearly comprehend. I’m deeply impressed in the manner that she uses to expresses herself. With her total dedication, I’m certain that we will achieve a positive outcome.
Leticia may be the only agent at Savvy Literary Services but she does the work of ten agents. She contacts every editor she knows and then follows up constantly to make sure they’ve read your manuscript. What I like about Leticia is that she always keeps you in the loop by contacting authors and letting them know what editors think of their project.
Finding Leticia and Savvy Literary Services was my luckiest moment as a writer. Leticia champions the work of her clients with incredible commitment and enthusiasm, offers priceless guidance to new writers and is highly effective in seeing each manuscript placed in the right hands. Leticia found an impossibly perfect home for The Industry in a matter of weeks and continues to represent the series with the utmost care and dedication. I’m privileged to be under her wing.
It was clear to me from our very first conversation that I was making the right choice in choosing Leticia Gomez as my agent in February 2011. She works extremely hard and keeps in excellent contact. I am always surprised by how quickly I hear back from her. Leticia has done an excellent job pitching my series and has shown great interest in my new projects as well. I am very pleased with Leticia as my agent and I recommend her to anyone looking for a remarkable champion for his/her work.
Like a complicated recipe, there are many ingredients. And one of the most important qualities of a great agent, is whether she communicates with her clients. Thank you Leticia for keeping me informed.
Leticia Gomez is one of the best agents I have worked with. She is diligent, aggressive, and doesn’t give up until the book is sold. She secured a two-book deal for me with a mainstream publisher and I am working on future projects with her as well. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an honest, diligent, representative.
As a first-time author looking for an agent, I was nervous about finding someone I could work with. Leticia and Savvy Literary Services changed that. Not only did she listen to what I wanted, she gave me direction when I needed it, believed in my writing, and never gave up on finding a publisher for me. Thanks to her hard work, I’m now under Spencer Hill Press and my book will be published next year. Thanks Leticia! Colleen Boyd/Swamp Angel/Spencer Hill Press
When I first embarked upon my journey of finding an agent to represent my book, I knew that hiring the right one was crucial to a successful outcome. After sending out hundreds of query letters and talking to many agents, I chose Leticia. I went with Leticia because of her relentless pursuit to go after publishers, sunny disposition, and her open communication style. Boy am I happy that I did! After only eight weeks, we signed with McGraw-Hill. Hiring Leticia was the best decision that I’ve ever made and I have no regrets. I would strongly recommend Leticia Gomez of Savvy Literary Services. You will not be disappointed. ” Michael Krause, Author of “SMART Prospecting: That Works Every Time!
